Business Travel Insurance
If you travel abroad on business trips then of course you will need travel insurance. You may have an accident or be the victim of theft and so it is imperative that you have arranged adequate cover for your or your employees business trips.
Remember, most insurers exclude business travel from their normal travel insurance policies!
If you or one of your employees is unfortunate enough to be taken ill abroad, you don’t want to worry about paying for emergency medical expenses or meeting the costs of flights home. With the appropriate business travel insurance all of these costs and more can be covered.
Some must travel many times throughout the year on business and there are a comprehensive range of insurance policies to cater for every need.
Most business insurance policies will cover the following in addition to the standard risks.
Business Equipment including Computer Equipment & Communication Devices
You will be insured if any of the above are accidentally lost, stolen or damaged up to their value when necessarily carried by you in the course of your business.
Business Equipment Delay
Should business equipment be delayed or lost in transit on the outward journey for more than 24 hours you will be covered for the cost of purchasing necessities.
Emergency Courier of Essential Business Baggage
You will be reimbursed for emergency courier expenses incurred when having to replace essential business equipment as a result of its loss, theft or damage.
Business Equipment Hire
You are insured for the cost of hiring any essential business equipment following its loss or breakage or misdirection or delay in transit for at least 12 hours.
Business Money
You will be covered for the loss of cash or travellers cheques.
Employee Replacement
You will be insured for the cost of an economy class return fare and other reasonable expenses incurred in sending out a substitute person to complete a trip in the event of your bodily injury or illness which is likely to last for at least seven days.
For the self Employed
If you are self-employed, it becomes even more important to organise business travel insurance. Larger companies may well agree to help you after an event or claim but as a self-employed person, you are solely responsible for the position in which you find yourself and will personally bear the burden of any financial loss. Always ensure that you have adequate insurance before your departure. It should only take a few minutes to complete an application form and buying the right policy can save a lot of time and money should you need to make a claim.
